The Story of Cholera

I've been working on this one for quite some time!

Some months ago, Global Health media Project , a health organization dedicated to educating and helping people in developing countries through medical videos, asked me to create an animated short on how to treat and prevent the cholera disease.

The production itself, for various reasons, took longer than I anticipated, but it was important for me to follow through and get this one out, so when I started working as director of animation for Ari Folman's "The Congress" a few months ago, I continued working on it nights and weekends (Which is partially the reason I didn't post anything for such a long time).
All in all, I think this long journey paid off, and so I'm very proud to present this short film.

You can also view the short's official page at Global Health media Project's site

Dailymation- Do Not Adjust Your Sets

I'm back!
It's Been quite a while :-P
Sorry for the long break, if you're following this blog (?).
For the past month or so I was swamped beyond human comprahansion with work and deadlines which had to get cleared up before starting my work on our next feature ("The Congress") (Which I did two weeks ago). And although I still have one project to finish, I'm going to get back on track and do as many dailymations as I can (sleep is for the mortals, I have to live up to the motto).
This is something I started some time ago and just came back to
Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for your patience (or lack of it)

As always- feel free to comment

Dailymation-Anat's Crazy Somersault

Taking requests can be a risky thing!
Following my son's request to animate him as an astronaut ( Here ) and my youngest to animate her properly doing cartwheels ( Here ), now it's my eldest, Anat's turn.
And pushing the envelope, as she would do, she requested ten Somersaults off the ground.
So here it is! I think this is the longest I've done so far :-P

Dailymation- Swordfight

Didn't really plan how this fight would go, I let the characters lead the way. at some points I thought I'd let one guy win, then I countered the attack and let the other take the offensive, so in a way it was a bit like an actual swordfight (only m-u-c-h slower)
eventually no one won, I guess.

Dailymation- Noa's Revised Cartwheel

A while ago I did a dailymation titled "3 cartwheels" , showing the different ways each of my children does a cartwheel.
Appearantly my youngest, Noa, was not too pleased with the result, and she came to me today and said- "Do you know? when you and mom are not looking, I do GREAT cartwheels! and THAT'S what you should have animated"
So, I stand corrected, and this is how Noa does a cartwheel (When we're not looking)

Dailymation- Shlomo the Cop

Shlomo the cop was a cameo that appeared in me and Uri inks'
graduation film "The Chuck and Norris Show"
This guy is a friendly, carefree and psychotic trigger happy cop.
He was never actually animated, just a still frame as one of the guests in a talk show, but we loved him so much and always played with the idea of giving him his own spot. Following a conversation with Uri last week, we laughed about it and I decided to revive him for a bit
So here he is!

Dailymation- Dead man in the park

I passed next to this scene in my car yesterday. If it wasn't for the police, I'd think he's just an old man who nodded off on a park bench.
I passed there again today, it was like it never happened.

possibly the longest time I sepnt on a dailymation
a bit more than three hours

How's this for hidden commercials!

Dailymation- Bad habits

I saw this man many years ago, When I was working as a security guard in a hospital. he was very old and probably had a bad addiction to cigarettes which his wife forbade him to smoke and swore us not to give.
Eventually when she wasn't looking He'd pick up butts off the floor and smoke what was left of them, and as soon as she came back he'd toss them aside in a speed you wouldn't believe. There was something very comic and very tragic about the way he did that.
thirteen years later I still remember him.

Done in about an hour and a half.

Dailymation- Tree

I didn't really think about it while working on this until at a relatively late point I realised this is a sort of a homage to the amazing tree scene from Miyazaki's "Totoro"
I just began with the branches and the tree was completely naked, and then when I added the leaves it was just there.
It was fun doing it, anyway.

Dailymation- Liftoff!

This is dedicated to Ari Folman and David Polonsky, who boarded a plane to the US today to start setting up the live shoot for our next feature "The Congress".

Hoping they get everything done on time! I'm supposed to start my part around April 2011, so for now, I just animate bizzare planes on my spare time. (This is actually quite mellow in comparison to what's going to happen in the movie)

Dailymation-Hand

Just toyed around with this one. Hands are probably one of the most complex things to animate (except the face maybe) and one the most fun to animate.

Done in about 2 hours.
